Frostburg State University Teaching Demo

Hello and welcome!

I am excited to meet you all on March 17 and spend some time together teaching and learning. During my teaching demonstration we will talk about leadership in practice. Particularly we will look at the roles of a leader, consider the priorities of folks in different higher ed leadership positions, and apply change-making processes. Below are some readings that could inform your participation. I will do a mini-lecture early in our class that will summarize these but if you haven’t read them before or in a while, checking them out will certainly benefit your participation.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions before or after class, please email me at jaclyn.k.rivard@gmail.com.

See you on the 17th!

Kind regards,

Dr. Jacci Rivard

These important readings will directly contribute to your participation:
Bolman, L. G. & Gallos, J. V. (2011). Reframing academic leadership. Jossey-Bass.

  • We will talk a little bit about some points from Part 1, but our discussion will focus more so on the leadership profiles and approaches to institutional challenges discussed in Part 2 (Chapters 4-7).
  • Notes: First, this version is available as an ebook in your library. Second, there is a new version that is Gallos & Bolman (2021) from Wiley and Sons. The chapters are the same.

These additional readings could inform your perspective during our discussion and contribute to a richer learning experience for the group:
